Planning your K’gari Yacht Escapes getaway is simple. Here is a clear breakdown of what is included in your premium package and the additional costs to budget for.
The standard nightly hire fee for your chosen luxury catamaran.
Covers Great Barrier Reef Marine Park (GBRMPA) levies, upgraded commercial vessel insurance, and specialised safety equipment matching strict 4C survey standards.
Included at a rate of $350 per day for the time spent navigating the extended cruising zone.
Calculated via meter readings and invoiced at the conclusion of your charter.
Engines (Too Eazy & Lazy Dayz): $26 per hour combined ($13 per hour, per engine).
Generator System: $13 per hour of usage.
Our charters are completely self-catered. You are responsible for bringing all food, beverages, and cooking essentials (including oils and spices).
Drinking Water: We highly recommend bringing bottled drinking water, as onboard fresh tank water is limited and best reserved for washing.
Guide Meals: You must include your Sail Guide in your headcount for all meal and drink provisioning.
Want to add stand-up paddleboards (SUPs), kayaks, snorkelling gear, or fishing tackle to your trip? We partner with Fraser Coast Marine Hire and Anglers Den to make it seamless.
Our team will coordinate the pick-up and return delivery of your gear.
Hire costs are paid directly to the respective rental businesses.
Because charter bookings are non-refundable in the event of a cancellation, we highly recommend protecting your holiday investment with comprehensive travel insurance.

Our guided charters provide all the essentials for a comfortable liveaboard experience:
OnBoard Facilities: Full use of the vessel’s kitchen, cutlery, and crockery.
Linens & Comfort: All bedding and one bath towel per person.
Consumables: Toilet paper, paper towels, tea towels, hand wash, and cleaning supplies (such as dishwashing liquid).
Note: No food, drinks, or pantry items are provided.
Please ensure your crew packs the following essentials:
Sun protection (hat, reef-safe sunscreen, sunglasses) and a camera.
Weather-appropriate clothing (including wind/rain jackets and warm layers for evenings).
All food & beverages: Remember to include your Sail Guide in your provisioning headcount.
Good quality drinking water and bag ice.
Children’s Lifejackets: Children under 13 must bring their own correctly fitted lifejacket.
Recreation Gear: Any personal fishing rods, SUPs, or snorkelling gear you wish to use (can also be hired locally).
Yes. Navigating our extended cruising zone requires advanced offshore skills, making it strict company policy to have an approved Guide on board.
While you remain the nominated Charterer in charge of the vessel, your Guide provides invaluable blue water support. They will help you master vessel operations, minimize accident risks, and share local secrets—including the absolute best anchorages, fishing spots, and snorkelling spots.
Reminder: Sail guides are elite mariners there to assist with navigation and safety. They are not cooks, cleaners, babysitters, or maids, and do not carry legal responsibility for your crew.
Securing Your Dates: A 20% deposit of the total charter fee is required to confirm your booking.
Final Balance: The remaining balance—including the extended charter premium and Sail Guide fees—is due 90 days prior to departure.
Payment Methods: We accept Bank Deposit, Cash, or Visa/Mastercard (a 2.25% credit card fee applies).
Cancellation Policy: Cancellations made within 90 days of departure forfeit the 20% deposit. If we successfully re-book the vessel for those dates, we will gladly refund your deposit less a $250 outlays fee.
To comply with our marine insurance policy, a $2,500 security bond must be lodged via a credit card pre-authorisation before setting sail.
This frees the funds temporarily; no money leaves your account unless damage or loss of equipment occurs.
If the vessel is returned free of incidents, the hold is entirely released.
Note: This bond is an insurance requirement, not travel insurance. Guests can be held liable for amounts exceeding the bond if found negligent. We highly recommend third-party travel insurance to cover these risks.
Your safety is our absolute priority. Because offshore conditions dictate blue water travel, the following policies apply:
The K’gari Cruising Guarantee: If we deem the weather unsafe to travel 50nm offshore to Lady Musgrave Island, but conditions are safe within the sheltered, partial smooth waters of the western side of K’gari (Fraser Island), the charter will proceed as a local charter for the duration of your booking.
Operator Cancellations: We reserve the right to cancel any trip due to severe, unsafe weather (even at short notice). If a full cancellation occurs, you may choose between a full refund or rescheduling to an alternative date. K’gari Yacht Charters is not liable for associated travel costs (like flights) due to weather cancellations.
No, all charters standardly depart and return to our main base at Urangan Harbour in Hervey Bay.
However, if severe weather prevents a safe return passage to Hervey Bay at the end of your trip, the vessel may divert to Bundaberg Port Marina. In this rare scenario, K’gari Yacht Charters will provide complimentary ground transfers back to Hervey Bay for your crew.
We exclusively open our extended cruising zone during May and June, as the seasonal wind patterns are the most stable and favourable for offshore sailing. To preserve our luxury vessels and guarantee a premium experience, we strictly limit these bookings to just three 7-night charters per vessel, per year.
